Until my daughters had all their math facts memorized (starting with addition and subtraction, then moving on to multiplication) we did a lot of math games and cooking for math lessons. (Gear like this makes it super fun.) Once a child had her multiplication tables down, we started a textbook for math, most girls were ready for this book somewhere in 2nd or 3rd grade: Saxon 4th grade book

This health program is appropriate for the whole family to work through together at once, starting in the elementary years. Parents can adjust the lessons based on their children’s needs and abilities (that’s the way I roll). Just a few things I love:

  • An emphasis on eating seasonally available, whole, and unprocessed foods (and never mentioning the word “diet”)
  • The program includes tips for keeping a health journal and weekly activities.
  • A major goal of the program is to show the student how the things that they eat and the lifestyle that they choose impacts their whole body and their long-term health and wellbeing.
  • Each lesson comes with a weekly planner, helping you clearly digest what material is for all the kids and what is recommended for younger vs. older children.
  • In addition to fats, proteins, carbs, micronutrients, and good hygiene, the lessons cover things like having a healthy gut, humanely-raised animals, grounding, and regenerative agriculture.
