Many homes in that part of the world still have their animals in a section of the house and the Greek word for ‘guest room’ is the one used in this passage, not the word for a commercial hotel-type place. We don’t know that the family shunned them. BUT we do know that the dragon is entirely appropriate and a great addition to a nativity scene! I put the Magi in a spot farther away since they did not get there for a couple of years.
